The University of Kansas Health System

Dr. Scott Mullen

Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, I have always had a passion for sports. After majoring in biology at the University of Kansas and attending the University of Kansas School of Medicine, I became a general surgery resident. However, after three years, I knew I wanted to pursue sports medicine. I was training for a marathon and loved talking with friends and neighbors about their sports-related injuries, so I switched to an orthopedics specialty.

I completed my orthopedics residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Following residency, I completed an orthopedic surgery sports medicine fellowship in Denver, where I was an assistant team physician for the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies and at Mullen High School. I received subspecialized orthopedic training in surgery of the shoulder, knee and hip and specialization in arthroscopic surgery at Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Denver.
